12 Fathom Lump - Hot Dog

We left the dock at 5:00am and as we headed south for Massey's Canyon the seas started to show white caps and a band of rain showers existed from 10 to 2. As we began to setup the spread the rains came down in earnest. But then, after just about a minute or two of heavy rain the skies began to clear and the seas laid down. After about an hour of trolling the WWWWBack Green Monster went a screaming and the Snow Goose crew boated a 46" Bluefin Tuna. With our first Tuna just one inch shy of allowing us at least one more Tuna in the boat we decided to make a run down towards the Hambone and troll to the Hotdog. Upon arriving at are starting point, where we chunked last year, we found a fleet of boats so we headed towards the Hotdog. After trolling at the Hotdog for about an hour or two with only a single knock down we decided to head back for some more trolling were we started the day with no further Tuna to show.

Our crew for the day was Ed, Bill, Barry from the Lewes Yacht Club, and his visiting cousin Tom from Florida, who got to reel in the BFT. There were good numbers of boats at Massey's chucking and jigging with good success. At least that is what it sounded like on the radio.

Besides some Wilson's Storm-Petrels and some Northern Gannets there were no Shearwaters until we got to the Hotdog. Once there we saw 1 Greater and about 15 Cory Shearwaters.
